The University of Calicut is the largest university in Kerala. There are 392 affiliated colleges sprawling  in the revenue districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikkod and Wayanad (except Mananthavady thaluk). Of these 52 are aided arts and Science and 9 aided Oriental Colleges. There are 3 aided colleges in Wayanad, 8 in Kozhikkod (2 Autonomous), 14 in Malapuram ( 1 autonomous), 8 in Palakkad and I7 in Thrissur (4 Autonomous). There are 2 B.Ed Colleges(one each in  Palakkad and  Kozhikkod districts). There are 2 aided Ayurveda Colleges(one each in  Malappuram and  Thrissur) and 1 aided Engineering college (Palakkad).

Total AKPCTA Membership in Calicut univ.is 751 in 2020-21. Area Committee meets on a regular basis . It consist of 5 district secretaries, 5 district presidents, nominated W. C members from the area and member of syndicate. Currently there is one member of Syndicate , 9 members of the Senate, and 17 members of the Accademic committe from the Association.
