The geographical jurisdiction of Kannur University is the revenue districts of Kannur and Kasaragod and the Mananthavady Taluk of Wynad district. There are 15 aided colleges including two Training Colleges and one Arabic College. 14 of these colleges come under the Kannur-Kasargod district committee and one under Wayanad district Committee.

Area Committee meets on a regular basis to  discuss organisational matters, matters related to Syndicate, Senate , Academic Council and Board of Studies. Currently three   office bearers, two members of the Working Committee and six members of the state committee of the AKPCTA hail from Kannur Univ region. Three members of the Syndicate ,  four  of the Senate , 12 members of the Academic Council  and about 190 members of  Board of Studies from the organisation  actively and dedicatedly work for strengthening the  academic  of Kannur University.
